Blobby Volley is a classic game of volleyball: something rarely seen today, neither freeware nor shareware. The rules are simple and easy to learn; put the ball in the opposition's half without touching the ball more than three times. The player that gets to 15 first wins. The creative part? You play with a blob.
You have the option of playing with with a friend or an AI opponent. You can choose the AI's difficulty, easy, average or hard. You can also choose the blobs' colors and define the keys, as well as view game statistics.
The modes are simple, yet interesting. You can start a game against an AI or a human player, depending on the settings. Playing against the AI is nice, challenging and interesting, but as you play it gets somewhat boring. The nice part is when you play against a friend as it becomes really challenging. You can also choose to play a network game.
Graphics Rating: 7/10
The graphics are very nice. The shadows are not that good especially the blobs' and the ball's. The physics are just what one would expect from a game like this.
Gameplay Rating: 7/10
The gameplay can be interesting, but only for a while if you play with the AI. If you play with a friend though, it can be better and encourages you to play more, if only too compare stats.
Sounds Rating: 4/10
Here comes the disappointing aspect of the game. There isn't any music, but on the good side of things the few sounds while playing are good.
Modes Rating: 6/10
Two modes: the offline mode and the online. The offline mode is good as you have the choice to play against the AI or a human player.
Difficult Rating: 8/10
A little bit hard in the beginning, but after a game or two you get used to it. This game lets you also choose from three different difficulty levels.
Overall Rating: 6/10
This is a nice game to play, even for a while. You will find yourself returning to play more against a human player as it is very challenging. I would recommend this game to everyone.
